If unanswered, a call permission request is sent back to the user. Disabled by default; enabled via Settings API.
1. Default Behavior (No Automatic Feature)
- The business receives a missed call notification via a webhook, but no automatic action is taken by Meta to re-engage the user.
- The business must use the API to send a message to the user (a "template message" if outside the 24-hour window) to follow up and ask to reschedule the call.
2. Optional Automatic Follow-up Feature
- You can optionally enable the Automatic Call Permission Request feature via the Settings API.
- If enabled and the call is missed: Meta automatically sends a call permission request to the user in the chat thread. This allows the user to grant permission for the business to call them back (Business-Initiated Call) when available.
- Recommendation: If your primary use case is customer support, enabling this feature is highly recommended as it provides a low-friction way to escalate from a missed call to a successful callback.
