Apart from the fact the On-premise phone numbers will not be able to continue working after the sunset in October 2025, here are more reasons why should phone numbers move to Cloud API-
1. Access to new product features
New features are now being released on the Cloud API only, not on On-Premise APIs starting Jan 2024. Cloud API is also recommended for users to get new upcoming capabilities such as Voice APIs, Payment APIs, Groups and many more. Read more
2. Scalability and higher performance
The Cloud API scales much more easily - starting from 80 tps up to 1000 tps with features such as autoscaling and local storage.
3. Better stability and reliability
Gupshup recommends Cloud API as it has scaled over well since its launch. Bugs are solved, issues have been reduced on Cloud API, while on-premise versions are getting less reliable making it difficult to get Meta support for them.
4. Alignment with Tech Provider Program
For ISVs, the Tech Provider Program launched by Meta early last year, is tightly linked to Cloud API. It does not work with On Premise phone numbers. Even the already live numbers will need to be tagged to the Tech Provider in the coming months.

5. Enablement for Turkey
Cloud API which was not supported in Turkey till early this year, also got launched for Turkey phone numbers in May 2024
